Dr. Greanya has more than a decade of experience with the federal government leading discovery and investment in innovative research and development.  As former Chief of Basic Research in the Chemical and Biological Technologies Department at the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), she represented DTRA on the White House National Science and Technology Council’s Fast-Track Action Committee on Optics and Photonics (FTAC-OP) in 2014. As a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), she led a wide range of innovative S&T programs including nanotherapeutics, bioinspired photonics, and advanced nanostructured materials and devices for high performance electronics, photonics, power and energy. In 2011, Viktoria was awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defense Award for Outstanding Achievement for her portfolio of work at DARPA. Dr. Greanya is an affiliate Professor at George Mason University who works collaboratively with their faculty to develop approaches for multidisciplinary research programs. Dr. Greanya received her PhD in condensed matter physics from Michigan State University in 2001. She is the author of Bioinspired Photonics: Optical Structures and Systems Inspired by Nature.
